I am thrilled to be part of Opportunity International and have been amazed by the commitment and generosity of our donors. It has enabled millions of people to build secure lives for themselves, their families and their communities.
At a time of many global challenges, Opportunity International is on the frontline, serving some of world’s poorest communities.
One of the things that excites me most about Opportunity International, and why I wanted to be part of it, is how it provides a hand up to individuals, rather than a hand out. By providing access to loans, savings accounts and tailored training we enable people, particularly women, to reach their full potential.
We are investing in real change. Individuals are working their way out of poverty and their communities are thriving.
I visited Uganda last week and I was impressed to see how we are supporting children to stay in school and get a good education, farmers to grow their income, and refugees to build sustainable livelihoods. Your donations make this happen. I’ve met some incredible people bursting with potential.
One of the projects I visited was in the Nakivale Refugee settlement where Scolaca lives. Her story is both harrowing and uplifting. You can find out more about it here.
This Christmas, please consider helping aspiring young women like Scolaca. A gift of £160 could provide 8 people with access to loans and the training needed to grow their business and build a secure future.
Although just a few weeks into my new role, I can already say it is a privilege to be working for such an incredible organisation. I look forward to all that we will achieve together.
With thanks for your ongoing support and wishing you a very happy Christmas.
