In November last year I visited our work in Uganda.  I was struck by the many stories of change that were shared with me. Time and time again I heard how providing access to financial training, loans and savings has changed lives.

Group lending underpins our core work, it is the bedrock of the microfinance movement and still works  as effectively today as it always has. Opportunity has been working with trust groups for over 40 years.

I visited the Peace Musooli Trust Group in Gayanza –  in the bustling suburb of Kampala (photo below). It was a fantastic meeting.

Every member shared how their life had improved. Many now own land and homes thanks to the loans and financial training they have received.

I was impressed by the effective leadership and active engagement of the members, alongside the expertise of our partners.

It was wonderful to see how effective trust groups remain and to know that, thanks to your support, trust groups serve thousands of people and communities throughout the countries in which we work.
